Notes:
08/02/10 Time to pick up the pieces... 1) Refinancing - Done Our first mortgage payment on the new loan will be September 1st. We will be adding $1k extra in principal to each payment, for a total payment of about $2,700 a month. This will pay off the loan in 7.5 years. We plan to take the small amount of cash reserves we have left after the refi and roll it back into our GNMA account so that we have a 50k reserve account. I'd like to get this back over 75k in the longer term, but it will take some time to make that happen. 2) College Savings - Done We have one year in the bank now, and plan to put one more in the bank by the time our little girl hits middle school. Should be a cinch. 3) 401k Max Out - Done No looking back. We're all done with the 401k until the house is paid for. This is a bitter pill to swallow - we'll see if we can hold true to our cause on this one... In other news... the market continues to rally nicely. Up about 10% since the first of July. We head on vacation later this month to spend some quality time up on the coast of Maine. Lovely! 08/03/10 Hit the Big 4-0 in June. Just updated my profile. As I leave the 35-39 year group, I sit at 102 out of 250 users - just around the 40th percentile. Now I find myself waaaay down the list at 105 out of 171, or the 61st percentile. Let's see how far up the list I can ride...
