Notes:
Although I allowed my retirement portfolio to get badly whacked (I am not sure why, but I just don't mess with it ...), I made major gains day-trading the stock market during the month of October (ironically, one of the worst months the market has had since WWII). Most of my gains were via ETFs and, although some of my gains were on the short side, I went long during the Oct. 10 panic and made almost $100K in one day. I also bought a new vehicle (with cash, again, I believe in zero debt). I really did not need a new vehicle, but my existing vehicle (which I'm also keeping since it is an SUV, not worth that much and good for vacations and snow boarding) was fully depreciated and the government is making it worth my while (tax-wise) to purchase another one. Other than that, I am well on my way to hitting the $2 million net worth mark by the end of the year. My projections call for $3 million by the end of 2010, which amount increases about $1.2 million (or more) every two (2) years thereafter. They say "the first million is the hardest," and they're right.
