| I got a large partnership distribution this month ($250K), and it looks like it will be a quarterly event this year.
Given some thought to my discretionary spending. I've booked all kind of fun vacations over the next 12 months with my daughters, continuing a tradition of traveling a lot. It's my largest discretionary expense, with my Porsche being a close second. While I love to spend money on travel, I feel crappy having leased the Porsche ... it's $2,000 per month and far more than I need to spend to be happy. I really goofed on that one, but I supposed I'll enjoy the goof through August 2015 when the lease expires. I won't, of course, be re-leasing.
The stock market seems to be in a bit of a small correction. The S&P is back in the high 1500s. So I dove back in ... I developed large positions in AAPL and IMMR, as well as SPY. The AAPL and IMMR are in my trading account and the SPY is all retirement money. The AAPL has a nice dividend, so if I get trapped in it, it will eventually be fine ... the IMMR is a flyer.
On another note, I recently was speaking to a friend who is getting married. She told me her soon-to-be spouse (in his early 50s) had presented her with a pre-nuptial agreement disclosing his "worth" of about $16MM. It was not clear if this was net assets without liabilities, but I didn't ask and regardless, the guy's loaded. It only reaffirmed my desire to keep plugging along to the decamillionaire mark ... and, this time next year, I'll be 2/3 of the way there with a projected net worth of about $6.8MM. |
