About Me |
I am a nerdy engineer that enjoys learning more about personal finance. |
Why I Joined |
To see how I measure up against others. While I am not super competitive I believe in healthy uses of peer pressure to set high expectations for yourself. |
Best Financial Decision |
Going to a in state college with a free ride to avoid student debt altogether. |
Worst Financial Decision |
Using an ELP to help guide my investing before I knew how to do it myself. the upfront fees killed a years worth of growth on my daughter's 529. |
Current Investing Strategy |
Use low cost index funds to cheaply and effectively capture the market growth and build wealth slow and steady. |
How do you manage your finances? |
By myself. On occasion I have used a financial adviser (hourly rate ony) to review my status and plan for a 2nd opinion. |
What tools do you use? |
Mainly via excel, although I do use Personal Capital. I really enjoy using their retirement planning scenario tool to run Monte Carlo analysis. |
I need financial help with... |
Rebalance criteria and asset allocation shift strategy for 529s. |
Favorite Authors |
I enjoy Dave Ramsey and Jack Bogle and his Bogleheads. |
Favorite Books |
Personal Finance for Dummies by Eric Tyson, it started me on my financial literacy journey. |
Favorite Movies |
My favorite movie has to be Shawshank Redemption. |
