Notes:
A challenging month financially. LOTS of unexpected expenses. AC died and needs to be replaced - the warrenty will pay for the new unit, but I have to come out of pocket around $800. Had to get new contacts, got an eye infection, so I had to get the medication for that in addition to purchasing a pair of glasses since I couldn't wear the contacts with the infection. I am now on Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover plan, so I depleted my savings down to $1,000 (well, I still have $1,600, but will put the 'extra' $600 on the car in the next few days). This step allowed me to pay extra on the car (I had about $2,000 in savings). It was hard to deplete my little savings account, I felt like I knew I would soon need that money for some type of emergency, and I was right! However, it drives home the need to 'get gazelle intense' and create more income. At least I have not had to charge any of the unexpected expenses, and in the past I would have. Per Dave's advice I also changed my 401(k) contribution from 10% of my gross to 5% (just enough to get the match), the difference will be added to the debt snowball. We'll see what it amounts to on May 5 (pay day). I am still looking for the 2nd roommate; so far, no one has worked out - need that passive income! I have not wanted to take on a 2nd job as my full-time job drains me most days, but alas, I have no choice if I am serious about getting rid of all this debt once and for all. I separated the Mortgage amounts, listing the first mortgage and the HELOC (2nd mortgate) separately. This makes it easier to see what is really happening with each debt. Prayerfully May will be a better month!!
