Long overdue entry. Traded in our Accord when cars were crazy high towards a near new Honda Pilot. Miss the 40mpg, but not the cramped legs and hurting knees getting in and out of the darn thing. Wife likes it much better. That's what she really wanted before we got the accord, but didn't think we could afford it. Fortunately we could now. I also bought a beater car for running back and forth to work. Haven't hit a deer yet, but many many close calls. 2002 Avalon with 230k miles. Very coushy, rides nice and way more legroom than the accord too. I get around 25-27mpg. Still better than my Truck that stays mostly neglected in the garage. I finished pouring the driveway concrete, poured a landing pad and fixed the deck steps on the other side. Fenced in the yard for our new dog. She was born Jan 2022 so she just turned 1. Restructuring at work, lots of guys lost their jobs but luckily not me. I'm the only part time employee left in the plant. Doing my job and paperwork well also being pretty good at what I do is what saved me. They said I was too valuable to let go. Otherwise I would be looking for a job right now. Wife is swamped at work doing two jobs with massive OT. Glad I'm home more to cook and keep an eye on the puppy at home. Doing fairly well money wise. Couple projects around home, but nothing major. New Garage door in shed at land, a lot of new lighting fixtures in the house, started on basement bathroom remodel, new washer and dryer in the laundry room with new ducting outside. Did a major garage cleaning and found parts from my very first car in a toolbox drawer along with manual for our old van. Lots of trash and scrap cleared out. So much better, but still not quite how organized the old house was. Maybe another year or two I'll be there. Been pretty lazy lately to be honest. Can't wait for spring. My motivation is just not there. Sick of the stock market and how shitty it's doing. Lost everything I gained since the start and then some. What a waste. So much for having decent returns on it towards retirement. Shoulda put more into land or the house which has been going up in taxes, and worth like crazy. |
