Horribly beat down by my job, but we just received a nice bonus check for $15k, which takes the edge off the misery a bit. Sadly, my company remains as f'ed up as ever - just as the bonus checks arrived a layoff took place, and we are still struggling to turn a profit after a series of disastrous moves that took place years ago.

We continue to shake our head at the market euphoria, but are enjoying the results of it. We continue to push closer towards $2M in net worth, something we never imagined as a possibility until recently.

We are starting to see the light in terms of living in the land of no alarm clocks. :-)

For the first time ever, we did a deep dive on our yearly expenses. We found that on average we are spending $62k a year. The rest is going into savings or payroll related fees and taxes. This is a little more than we thought... We suspect that if we want to retire early we'll need close to that amount, plus another $25k to cover medical insurance. We predict we would need about $2.1M in non-real estate assets to cover our total expenses.

This has been an eye opening exercise to say the least.
