We've started to tap the college funds - we've spent about $10k so far, along with another $7k for a car and insurance. That should be it for a while.

As we head towards the election, and a seasonally choppy time of year, we've started to see our portfolio bounce a bit. Despite this, we don't see a change in course for us as we proceed towards the finish line. We continue to make a mortgage payment to ourselves each month, which for the time being is going into a Vanguard Money Market fund. We also continue to contribute 8% to our 401k to take full benefit of the company match.

A final note of mention. Our hero and money mentor Bob Brinker passed away recently. We owe our financial position in large part to the great advice he offered over the years. Paying yourself first, investing in low cost, highly diversified funds has put us very close to the land of no alarm clocks. We hope to be there soon. Rest in Peace Bob.

At the end of last October the market bottomed out of a correction, and our net worth stood at $2.1M. 11 months later we're up a staggering $700k, to $2.8M. Insane... My new retirement goal was 2026, but I'm beginning to wonder.
