Notes:
The DOW was up .27% in May and 2.64% for the year. Left for Crosslake on Fri, May 3 with the Jayco, but ran into Lincoln trouble and had it towed. It was a broken spark plug, not a blown engine, so spent $400 instead of $3000! Left again for Crosslake the next day. Did lots of improvements of the property this month especially anticipating our family coming to the cabin. Brandon could not come due to his continued back issues. Jeff and Linda lost their lease and are moving to LA and sharing a residence with another couple. Jeff resigned at his restaurant and is setting up his own company to do private hosting. With Paul, Lyn and Grant we had 19 over Memorial Weekend. Marty, Amanda and Madison flew in from California from Wed - Monday Memorial Weekend. Craig and Cindi were going to come, but had to cancel. I took Caleb and Thomas fishing at Paul and Lyn's and between us we caught 6 bass, which we fixed for everyone as an appetizer before pizza in the pizza oven. Marty and Alyas led a lot of card playing and croquet. MS and I spent a lot of time getting ready for the event - cleaning the cabin and loft and garage and shed, mowing and setting up bird feeders, putting up the screens, picked up the golf cart from Paul's pole barn, set up beds in the loft with linens, Paul gave us oak firewood he didn't want any more, Sean and Emilie helped us install closet shelving and put together Emilie's day bed in the spare bedroom, sprayed for weeds, MS mowed with the new John Deere riding mower and pulled dandelions, hauled a load of dirt for MS deck garden and other plants, cleared out brush to make the lake visible, hung curtains and wall artwork, planted 4 evergreen trees, spent $37,000 on furnishing the cabin, drove to Alexandria to buy a canoe ($3500), the Dive Guys tried to clean out our beach ($700) left of the dock and the next day it was full of crud again, couple of trips to Baxter to shop and to Pine River to get a canoe license, built a box hockey box, and did laundry in Crosslake 2 times. We celebrated Paul's 68th BD at Norway Ridge Restaurant. Kaylon, an admin and former pro basketball player in Europe, stole money ($1300) from us (he entered cash as credit card payments) and was fired by Brandon. Brandon's surgery was rejected by insurance until he has physical therapy and psychiatrist eval. He's pretty bummed. Received $21K for a refund on state taxes.
