DOW YTD: 9.42%; August: 1.73%. Our cash was down this month due to trading in the 2017 Lincoln toward a 2017 Lexus RX 350 and having to pay $20,374 in trade. The Lincoln died for the 3rd time on the interstate, this time in the construction zone by Owatonna. MS said, "Three strikes you are out." But, the Lexus is not near as big as the Lincoln and we miss the room. We also put a hitch on the Lexus that was $400. Plus, we also paid $5,000 to the Dive Guys for cleaning out 15' of our beach at the cabin. I also bought new DeWalt tool cabinets for both the home (5 drawer( and cabin (4 drawer and 5 drawer) totaling over $1,600 and we've started to pay Emilie and Sean for working on our cabin with their new Be Home Renovations company that they started. Gary and Marilyn Reedy, Ed and Joyce DeHaan and Cindi and Craig VanAusdall all visited us at the cabin this month. Sean finished up the lean-to and it looks very nice. We got the shed elevated on blocks, but still have to level it, paint it and then put in a deck around the east and south sides. Emilie put new caulking in the bathroom as the previous owner had done a very poor job when he tried to remodel it. I also built the firewood rack with MS' help making sure it was level. We also finished hauling the wood from Paul's deck as he had a new deck installed. He also gave us two dock sections. A friend of Paul's, Ron Schoneman, gave us a smoker and sold us his 12' duck boat for $1,100. Paul also gave us his Weber grill that we used several times. I also went through all my nuts, bolts and screws from both home and the cabin and collated those so they are more organized and accessible. MS and I reorganized the garage at the cabin and I did that at home. I picked up a band saw, sander and drill press at Harbor Freight and began building a workbench for the cabin garage. Paul gave me some good advice on that. The stock market was up and so our stock funds at Edward Jones were up. This is the most we've had in stocks outside of retirement. Brandon and Melany arranged to have our payroll switch to ADP, and MS and my salaries weren't correct. Also, we are still not receiving draw due to the company having to make up for Brandon's salary as he's not seeing very many clients, but running the company ( and doing a very good job). They also arranged for us to have company oversee our insurance processing so we will be more timely on collecting on client's deductibles and Welgaard are going to handle all our bookkeeping, so we are not using Stephanie Newman any more. They also are setting up a new bookkeeping system and Brandon and Melany are taking Quickbooks training to upgrade our bookkeeping and remove those chores from any of our office admin people. These moves will save the company a lot of money. Brandon and I met with Dale and Brook at Welgaard regarding the value of the company with regard to Brandon buying more shares of the company. We have not settled on an agreement as of the end of the month. The company needed to two day $25,000 loan to make payroll with ADP that I arranged at First Interstate Bank. I had to sign up to be Samona Garcia's supervisor as she started her practicum this month and will be an intern going forward. It took me forever to get it done. |
