Notes:
It appears I forgot to create an entry for May, so created entries for May and June today. I have the May numbers in my Excel tracking, not sure why it didn't make it into this site. This year for the first time ever I set a "goal" for my net worth. In 2016 my net worth increased by $54k or 28%. So for 2017 I said the same % increase, $69k total. I just checked vs. December 2016 and I'm already at $51k added to net worth. Last weekend my mom gave me $1000 toward our wedding. She and my stepdad have offered to contribute $3k total, and decided to do it in $1k increments. That is about the total amount I've spent so far, so I'm neutral at the moment in wedding expenses. I think my dad paid for the catering at my brother's wedding, and will probably do the same for mine. So I think we will come in at under $10k of "our" money. Yesterday I updated my tax withholding to better match the fact that we'll be married filing jointly this year, which means my tax bill for the year is nearly paid already (assuming fiance continues with his current plan of writing a book this year, aka likely little to no income this year). Today I bumped up my Roth 401k contributions from 10% to 12%, and will put the rest of the savings in cash for now. I also have started thinking through which accounts to close/merge/etc. after we're married. I'll be handling the finances. Also need to decide how to look at total net worth after getting married. We are planning to combine finances, so it'll all be "our money." I will probably update my tracking here to include all, so it'll just look like a big spike in my net worth in November.
