Expensive mistake: Thought incorrectly that I could pay for orthodontic care started in mid-December using money from FSA funded in January, so that’s $2,700 spent out of checking rather than out of the FSA. My private student loan payment also increased now that I’m 6 mos out of residency, so I had to divert another $2,300 from my checking to my emergency fund to reflect that increase. Unfortunately, this means that, rather than the entire paycheck that I was intending to dump into loan repayment every month on top of the minimum payments, I was only able to pay about $635 extra, but at least our net worth uptrended! |
