Notes:
July 1-- The retirement fund took a beating in June. I invested $500, the value of the account went up only $365, meaning I lost $135. Which is over 7% in one month of my total account value. Good thing I don't have $100k in there! Oh well, that 7% is still better than 30% that would be going to Uncle Sam if it wasn't going towards a tax deferred account. I was this close (_) to dumping all of my retirement fund into bonds only, but time is on my side for now, so stocks are where my money shall stay for the next several years. My employee matching contributions began in June also, so that took some sting out of the bad month. It is like an instant $2600 TAX FREE annual raise that I can't touch for 33 years. Also, I have been at my job for a year now, so it might be time for a mandatory raise YAY! I will find out and report on it, in the August update. *Car value is current blue book value (in 'good' condition) My goal is to pay off the $8000 car loan sometime in the next year... Oh, let's say July 4th 2009. A great day to celebrate my independence from a loan. That monthly $237 will go nicely towards the soon to be $6 a gallon GAS!
