Notes:
Well well... So, as it turns out we had a pretty huge tax bill due to ESPP sales last year and the fact that the money the wife was paid during her maternity leave was untaxed. We ended up having to pay almost $9000 in taxes!!! OUCH! But even with having to pay that unexpectedly large tax bill we still made an improvement on our net worth. Way to go us! Mint shows us at $517K so there is a discrepancy of ~5k. Not sure why I am seeing that big a diff... Lets go over the other financial news for the month: 1) Month to month renters are going to be there until Oct.! 2) Wife was granted ~$2K in RSUs 3) I was granted ~$10K in new RSUs and 1% raise and ~$4K after tax bonus Financial news coming up: 1) Wifes Quarterly ESPP will be purchased next month ~$2K 2) My semi-annual ESPP will be purchased June 5th ~$30K Thats it for immediate news. As for longer term news; my wife and I decided that we were paying to much in taxes these days so our aim is to max out both of our 401K contributions this year. I upped my contribution to 20% and my wife upped hers so that she would max out. We have already received a paycheck with the new lower take home. It is going to hurt a little in the near term since we are still trying to build up our emergency fund. We figure this 401K stuff should increase our net worth by ~$7K this year. This should also help us reign in our spending as well. Thats it for April and lets hope we can get back to closer to 4% monthly net worth increase we had been seeing!
