About Me |
Typical LBYM'er, recently retired. |
Why I Joined |
Because NetworthIQ.com died |
Best Financial Decision |
LBYM, followed closely by buy & hold and resisting the urge to time the market
|
Worst Financial Decision |
Buying penny stocks in a small company, simply because my friend had become a VP there. Total loss! |
Current Investing Strategy |
Max out tax advantaged account contributions (HSA, 401k, Backdoor Roth IRA, Mega-backdoor Roth, 529), primarily utilizing low ER index funds/ETFs with aggressive growth portfolio.
2020 UPDATE: Since retiring, it's less about stacking the benjamins and more about minimizing outflow through tax & tax credit optimization and student financial aid optimization for kids heading to college soon. I have also allowed myself to day trade with ~1% of my net worth. It's been surprisingly profitable, but I still hold 99% true to my passive / buy&hold roots. |
How do you manage your finances? |
Weekly accounting, "rebalancing" primarily through new contributions rather than actually moving investments. Auto-pay whatever I can, preferably with a cash-back rewards credit card. |
What tools do you use? |
Excel, Mint, Personal Capital, FIRECalc, I-ORP |
