Notes:
$24,000 was stolen from my emergency fund savings account on April 4th. This entry reflects networth as of April 1st. Hopefully I'll get the money that was stolen back in the middle of April. It's all I can think about. My bank has failed to protect our cash. I don't have any faith or trust in banks anymore.

Edit: my bank did get our money back to us. I discovered with my ID monitoring service that a bank account was opened in my name on April 3rd. So that's how I found out officially that my identity has been stolen.

Ugh. I don't know what the penalty for identify theft is for people who are caught, but whatever it is it should be 100x worse. And there should be penalties for the institutions that get hacked, that actually reimburse the victims somehow instead of just fines that go to the government. (Especially credit bureaus that somehow get to access every bit of our personal and financial data without any approval from the individuals. /endrant)
