Notes:
Nothing has changed too much from last month. My finances has stabilized with my monthly paycheck going down since I am living in Officer quarters. I will extend for another year, which will allow me to earn an additional $300 as a bonus. Completed my tax return for 2012 and I am pretty disappointed because I found out that NYC charges state tax to Active Duty Soldiers who do not reside in the state. I always thought I was exempt based on my occupation and not residing in the state. Unfortunately, I was exempt due to my previous time of living overseas in Korea and deploying to Iraq. I find the rule to be pretty ridiculous, especially since it is costing me over $3,000. Overall, I will get about $1,200 for federal and $180 for state as my return for this year.
