Notes:
Again, no personal property (ie cars) in this calculation, CC balances are at 0% and offsetting amounts are kept in HYS. I always feel like I am not saving enough, but with the inclusion of my retirement funds (both my contributions and portfolio performance), it looks pretty good each month. Also, this month was particularly strong, because the cash savings for an extra pay period in August finally caught up. Meaning, I got an extra paycheck at the very end of August, but it didn't hit savings until September, and then the last paycheck in September didn't hit until October. Finally, this month, my last October paycheck was transferred to savings right away. It's just a timing difference, but since I have small credit card balances that I don't include (they are paid off every month), I also exclude my checking account balance, to be fair. And if the savings from that paycheck haven't made it to the savings account yet, they get left out of the calculation.
